DISMANTLING THE BAND

A BAND YOU SHOULD KNOW: the morning benders
BY LACKLUStre

This is a band that you should know about... if you don't know about them already. As a matter of fact, I have only come to know about them since their show got announced this week. However, I have fallen deeply and madly inlove with the morning benders. Reminiscent of early Shins, youthful Berkeley trio the Morning Benders are poised to become modern masters of truly great pop tunes. Each magical ditty is delivered with frontman Chris Chu’s boyish vocals wafting over rhythmic tambourines, drums and guitars. Mixing 60’s rhythms, rockabilly grooves and dark country beats with simple themes and creative lyrics, The Morning Benders waste no time in capturing the essence of modern indie pop. The band’s latest album “Talking through Tin Cans”, has been attracting rave critical attention since its release in 2008 and their legion of followers is continuously growing. Live, the entire band comes together with impeccable timing, proving their time spent playing in California clubs has molded them into tomorrow’s leaders of sunny pop.  They kind of remind me of Blitzen Trapper? (Who's album... Furr... is one of my all time favourite albums! Check out the videoooo and check livenation.com for ticket info. I believe that they are playing the Media Club in the new year! HUZZAH
